Voluntary Group - Parents Policy

Voluntary parents Guidelines effective June 2016

  1. Voluntary Parent Plan will be opened once in 3 years effective 1st June 2016.
  2. Employee can enroll either one or both the parents, or not participate in the plan.
  3. One time entry upon joining for all New-hire employees within 60 days from the date of their joining, however employee whose parents are still working will be allowed to enroll into the plan after their retirement from service as an exception applicable only for parents retired in the last policy period (during annual renewal in June each year).
  4. Policy allows employees to exit only after completion of one claim-free year. However, on exiting the policy, employees will not be allowed to participate again as long as you are employed with Honeywell.
  5. Employees who have not opted for Voluntary Parent Plan coverage within the enrolment period for 2016-17 Policy period, will not be allowed to enter again for next 3 years (effective 1st Jun 2016) in to Voluntary Parent Plan policy.
  6. Mid-term request for existing employees to opt for Voluntary Parent Plan will not be entertained, except for New-hire employees within 60 days from the date of their joining.
  7. Employees will be eligible for tax exemption as per the tax guidelines.

Eligible Expenses The Amounts Payable under “Surgeon, Anaesthetist, Medical Practitioner, Consultants Specialist fee, Anaesthesia, Blood, Oxygen, Operation Theatre charges, Surgical Appliances , Medicine and Drugs, Dialysis, Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy, Artificial Limbs, Cost of Prosthetic devices implanted during surgical procedures like Pacemaker. Reagent Laboratory/Diagnostic Tests, X-Ray & other medical expenses related to treatment shall be at the rate applicable to the entitled room category i.e Single AC room.
Please Note: Treatment that is directed immediately to the cure of the disease or injury called “Active line of Treatment”. If Admission to a Hospital is mainly for diagnosis of an Ailment which can be carried out as an outpatient treatment involves few oral medications only it will not be covered under Hospitalization Benefits.
Day Care Surgery Hospitalization means admission in any Hospital/Nursing home in India upon the written advice of a Medical Practitioner for a minimum of 24 consecutive hours will not be applicable for following surgeries/Procedures.

Voluntary Topup - Employee Policy

Employee Top-up Premium and Guidelines

A Top up Health Insurance policy is an additional coverage option for employees along with the existing Health Insurance plan from Honeywell

Considering the unforeseen medical needs, employees are provided the opportunity to increase the Sum Insured for employee.

Honeywell has introduced two additional Suminsured options of 3 lakhs and 4 lakhs. Honeywell has negotiated special rates with New India Assurance Company exclusively for employees of Honeywell and this benefit is not generally offered by Insurers in the market. By contributing a nominal premium, the floater Sum Insured can be increased. The Top-up can be utilized only after the complete exhaustion of the basic sum insured. The below table shows the premium payable by the employee for additional Sum Insured

Top-up Enrolment Guidelines:

  1. Coverage options for Employee Top-up Policy available are INR 1,2,3 & 4 Lakh with same terms and conditions are as per the base plan.
  2. Top-up cover will be maintained as a separate policy and it will be funded 100% by employees.
  3. Existing employees in the plan have an option to:
    1. Continue with or exit from the Top-Up Plan - Policy allows employees to exit only after completion of one claim-free year. However, on exiting the policy, employees will not be allowed to participate again as long as they are employed with Honeywell.
    2. Employees can opt to increase their current top-up cover up to INR 400,000.
    3. Employees can opt to decrease the current cover if there is no claim in the expiring policy.
  4. In case you don't make a change, existing cover will be continued for the policy year 2016-17
  5. Top-Up policy is extended to all dependents enrolled in the base policy
  6. Employees who have not opted for Top up coverage within the enrollment period for 2016-17 Policy period, will not be allowed to enter again for next 3 years(effective 1st Jun 2016) in to Voluntary Top-up policy .
  7. Employees will be eligible for tax exemption as per the tax guidelines
  8. If employee resigns during the policy period, prorated Premium will be refunded, except if the termination date is between 1st Mar'17 – 31st  May'17.
  9. In case employee has incurred a claim, complete premium will be recovered during Full n Final settlement

The Top-up sum insured cannot be used to fund any non-payable expense, Co-Pay or any other exclusion as defined in the Master/Base policy. For more details click here

  • An employee covering both parents in the voluntary parents plan cannot opt for top up for only 1 parent

Enrollment guidelines of Voluntary Parents policy will be applicable in case of top up coverage also:

  • One time entry for all employees
  • Once enrolled, employees can opt out any time during the renewal except for the employees who have incurred claims. Employees need to continue one complete policy year without any claims before moving out
  • Employees exiting once from Top up coverage will not be allowed to enter again
  • Employees will be eligible for tax exemption under 80 D for annual premium paid upto INR 20,000
  • Employees will have the option to avail “Top-up” portability benefit

Benefits Enrolment Process

Enrollment of eligible dependants (spouse and Child) for all the new hires employees and new additions in the family or any data changes needs to be updated via HR Direct within 60 days from the date of hire or event, failing which waiting period of 1 year will be applicable.

When updating your dependant’s details, please ensure the following information is provided:

  • Full Legal Name
  • Birth Date
  • Relationship to you

All changes will be updated to MediAssist within 2 weeks upon updation of complete data. You are encouraged to keep your personal data up-to-date, to ensure timely updates or services are made available to you and your dependants.

Changes to other personal information such as Marital Status, National ID or Passport Number will need to be reported to the insurance provider, to ensure no disruption to the services provided to you. Do inform your HR immediately should there be such changes so that your record can be updated in the HR system accordingly.

Usage of corp buffer

Corporate buffer is a common pool of coverage maintained at an organization level. This can be availed in case of any medical emergency falling under critical illness, after exhaustion of individual employee’s Family Floater coverage. This is extended to Employee, Spouse & Children

Sum Insured : An additional Sum Insured of INR 2,50,000 is provided by Honeywell over and above the base sum Insured of INR 2,50,000. This subject to be critical illness.

Port the policy even after leaving Honeywell

Portability benefit terms and conditions are primarily subject to the insurer’s requirements as well as IRDA regulations. Following are the current key terms and conditions, which are subject to future changes by IRDA as well as the insurer:

  • Request for conversion must be submitted prior to employee’s termination date in Honeywell.
  • Parents who are above 45 years and have not completed 4 years under the group Voluntary Parent Cover will be required to submit a medical report
  • Conversion to retail policy must be with existing insurer for at least 1 year. Employee must inform the new insurer at least 45 days before the policy expiry date, if s/he would like to change insurer after 1 year.
  • Coverage will be up to sum Insured and age limit
  • Premium rate will be subject to the applicable rate for retail policy at the point of conversion
  • Employee will be communicated of the prevailing terms and conditions details by the insurer upon submitting request for conversion
